About

Hi, I’m Lucy and I run an architectural practice based in Eltham, Victoria. I am Passive House Certified and specialise in the sustainably focused design of medium to large scale projects in the residential and community sector. In every project, I aim to deliver spatial outcomes that are rich with natural light and ventilation, highly functional and provide everyday delight to the occupants.

A bit about me:

I’m a registered Victorian architect who has been working in and around Melbourne and regional Victoria for over ten years. Since graduating from RMIT in 2007 with 1st Class Honours I have worked with Phooey Architects, Allen Kong Architect, Rush Wright Associates, Evolva Architects and Crosby Architects designing, documenting, project managing and delivering creative sustainable architecture.

My upbringing on a rural property in north Qld instilled in me an appreciation of designing for the elements, passive solar design, utilising locally available materials and skills, and a general love for the outdoors and natural world.

Reviews:

We engaged Lucy from Lucy Williams Architects to design a new Garage/Studio extension and for the renovation of our existing house. We could not be happier with the service she provided. It’s an understatement to say that Lucy went way above and beyond for us to create a design that is so much better than we could have imagined when we first embarked on this project. As an Electrician I deal with architectural plans daily and I can honestly say Lucy’s are the best I have come across. At every stage, from the early concept designs through to the construction drawings, our expectations were far exceeded. As well as creating a design we love Lucy also arranged quotes for all the consultants and each were a pleasure to work with. If you are after a talented Architect that will produce a clever and practical design incorporating energy efficiency and sustainability principles, is budget conscious, well-connected and an all-round nice person then I couldn’t recommend Lucy more highly. Lucy was a delight to work with. I had no premeditated notion of what I wanted, which is why I employed Lucy. She recalls we met on online at a Renew speed dating program. I asked if she was interested in designing a country house. The answer was ‘yes’, so off we went.

The first design went out, featuring a two storey ‘retreat’, as I recall, a crescent shape. The CFA said: ‘Computer says no’ (cough) I loved it; Lucy was ‘devastated’. I suggested we go up, not out & that’s what we did.

Administrative matters were handled with aplomb. She seems to have had great rapport with the planner at Nillumbik, a notorious obstacle. She designed a simple house, applauded by the builder, for its conversion into a building without much builder adaptation. She was very calm in the face of a 3-month delay to remove the power line. She had a lot of very good ideas; I can’t recall a disagreement. Dennis, The Tardis House
